HBO Programming Earns 15 WGA Award Nominations

The Writers Guild of America unveiled the TV nominations for the 2015 WGA Awards, recognizing HBO and Cinemax programming.

'Veep' and 'Silicon Valley' are up for best comedy series. In the drama category, 'Game of Thrones' and 'True Detective' were nominated; the latter was also recognized for best new series alongside Cinemax's 'The Knick.'

'Olive Kitteridge', 'The Normal Heart' and the pilot episode of 'The Leftovers' scored nods for adapted teleplay. Two hours of 'Boardwalk Empire' are up for best drama episode: "Devil You Know" and "Friendless Child." 'Game of Thrones' is nominated in the same category for "The Lion and the Rose."

'Last Week Tonight with John Oliver' and 'Real Time with Bill Maher' were nominated for best comedy or variety series. Maher's special, 'Bill Maher: Live from D.C.' is up for comedy or variety special, as is 'Sarah Silverman: We Are Miracles.'
